Imposter game with vocabulary words

Pick the topic of the unit, copy the list and paste it in the room under Game Settings (one word or short phrase per line). Rounds will use words from your list without repeating them until it runs out, so the clues your students give are practice with exactly the vocabulary you are teaching. With your own list the imposter only sees "Your own word" as the category, so say the topic out loud before you start.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a list to the game?

Create a room and, under Game Settings, paste the list in the "Your own words" box, one word or short phrase per line. Tap "Save list" before you start the round.

How many words can a list have?

Up to 100 entries, each with a maximum of 40 characters. Twenty are enough for a lesson: each round uses one and they do not repeat until the list runs out.

Can I use phrases instead of single words?

Yes, short expressions work too ("orange juice", "living room"). Phrasal verbs and idioms make good lists for advanced groups.

Does the imposter know the topic?

With your own list the imposter only sees "Your own word" as the category. Say the topic out loud before playing so the imposter has a chance to bluff.
